The CD8000 supports both Contact and Gap weld modes:

• Contact mode: The stud is in contact with the workpiece before the discharge – fast and ideal for clean, flat surfaces.

• Gap mode: The stud is held a small distance from the surface and driven in during discharge – useful for less ideal surfaces or where extra control is needed.

Having both modes gives flexibility across different jobs and materials.
