The CD9000G supports both Contact and Gap weld modes:

• Contact mode: The stud is in direct contact with the workpiece before discharge – fast and efficient for clean, flat surfaces.

• Gap mode: The stud is held slightly off the surface and driven in during the weld – useful for less ideal surfaces or when extra control of penetration is needed.

Having both modes provides greater flexibility across different jobs, materials and surface conditions.
